Cookies in a Few Words
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser so it can recall something on your next page view, such as a choice you've made. Some vanish once the browser shuts, while others stay until a set expiry date.
Your Choice in the Banner
When you first arrive, a banner gives you two buttons of equal weight: "Allow analytics" and "Only necessary". Until you click one, we store nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies. Pick "Only necessary" and the site works exactly the same, just without traffic measurement. You can revisit your decision whenever you like via the "Manage cookies" link in the footer, and we'll ask again once your saved choice expires.
What We Set and for How Long
We use two categories: strictly necessary cookies and analytics cookies from Google Analytics. There are no advertising cookies on this site, and nothing here follows you around the web to target ads at you.
| Cookie category | Purpose | Duration | How to disable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session (strictly necessary) | Keeps your visit stable as you move between pages | Until you close the browser | Only through browser settings; some pages may then behave oddly |
| Consent record (strictly necessary) | Remembers which banner button you clicked | 6 months | Clear site data in your browser, and the banner comes back |
_ga (analytics) |
Lets Google Analytics count distinct visitors | 2 years | Click "Only necessary", or change it under "Manage cookies" |
_ga_<id> (analytics) |
Groups your page views into a session for our property | 2 years | Same as _ga, or install Google's opt-out add-on |
Turning Cookies Off in Your Browser
Your browser can block or delete cookies regardless of what you chose in our banner. Look in the privacy or site-data section of its settings, where you can clear stored cookies or block them for specific sites. Keep in mind that blocking all cookies may sign you out of other services you use.
